Victory in Lynn!

LineofLadiesEdited.jpgOn May 22nd the Lynn City Council passed a resolution calling for the Governor and the State Legislature to support tax reform that raises substantial new revenue while protecting low- and middle-income families and seniors from big increases. The Mass Senior Action Council led the charge to organize in Lynn, advocated for the resolution with City Councilors, and attended the hearing to show support (see picture at right).

Dan Cahill.jpg At large City Councilor Dan Cahill (pictured at right) was the lead sponsor of the resolution, which passed the Lynn City Council unanimously. Over the past four years, Lynn has lost over $9.4 million in general local aid, which has meant cuts to public safety, education and infrastructure.

The Campaign for Our Communities congratulates the Lynn Chapter of Mass Senior Action for their advocacy, and the Lynn City Council for recognizing the need to raise new revenue to support the locally provided services that make Lynn a great place to live, work and raise a family.
