Rally to Support Springfield Resolution!

Fenton.jpgOn March 19th at 5:30 p.m., the Springfield Coalition of the Campaign for Our Communities will hold a rally on the steps of Springfield City Hall (36 Court Street in Springfield). After the rally, folks will attend the Springfield City Council meeting, which begins at 6:30.

At the City Council meeting, Councilor Michael Fenton (pictured at right) will be introducing a resolution that calls on Governor Deval Patrick and the Massachusetts legislature to pass tax reform legislation that raises substantial new revenue while simultaneously protecting low and middle income families from big increases. Substantial new revenue is needed to invest in the services that we all depend on. Over the past four years, Springfield has lost over $18 million (adjusted for inflation) in general local aid. These are dollars that are no longer available to invest in Springfield public schools, libraries, roads, police, fire, or other services.

Please attend the rally and city council meeting on the 19th to show the members of the Springfield City Council that you support new revenue to invest in Springfield! Contact Linda Stone at 413/543-2334 or at lstone@masssenioraction.org for more information.
